Brain Limits

on the way in from perth airport
clouds–their surface just like meninges
except concave–cocoon our taxi.
my father made 2 long trips cross ocean
once, one year married, to london alone
next returning from melbourne
when we stopped at freemantle
all trip my mother was seasick
so my sister and i played bingo
“dad had a thing for ships
even after there were planes”
(they took longer getting to the where;
and he too favoured the in-between)
i tell you
letting the
meninges keep in
keep out all
the other things that
keep me awake
at night
these days.
