Mo Ye 莫邪 (b. 1950)


BIOGRAPHY

莫邪(1950-),原名杨萱。新加坡人,南洋大学中文系毕业。杨萱70年代曾任职南洋大学华语研究中心、80年代为南洋商报记者、90年代《联合早报》国际新闻翻译兼特写员、香港《亚洲周刊》中南半岛特派员。她亦全自费为女童教育及孤儿福利服务逾30年,活动遍及泰国柬埔寨中东南非各国等。莫邪是《新加坡15诗人新诗集》作者之一,这是第一代新加坡现代派诗人的合集。她目前已退休。

Mo Ye (b. 1950), born Yang Xuan, is a Singaporean poet. She graduated from the Chinese Language and Literature Department of Nanyang University, where she worked at the Chinese Heritage Centre in the 1970s. Yang Xuan worked as a reporter in the 80s for Nanyang Siang Pau, and in the 90s, a translator cum feature writer for the Lianhe Zaobao international news desk, and a Special Correspondent of The Chinese Asiaweek.

She was involved in orphan welfare and girls’ education for over 30 years as a self-funded volunteer in Thailand, Cambodia, the Middle East, South Africa and other countries. Mo Ye is also a featured poet in《新加坡15诗人新诗集》[Singapore 15 New Poets Anthology], a collection of poems by the first generation of Singaporean modernist poets. She is currently retired.
