BIOGRAPHY

Teo Poh Leng, a.k.a. Francis P. Ng, was born in Singapore to a Teochew family. He contributed numerous literary essays to Raffles College Magazine, of which he was once the editor. After becoming an elementary school teacher, he published poems in The London MercuryLife and Letters To-day, and Chorus, before falling victim to the Sook Ching massacre in 1942. In 1937, his long poem F.M.S.R. was published in London, making it the first known collection of English poetry published by a person from Singapore.
