Tulang Tulang Ikan
musnah seluruh tubuh
tinggal
bagai tulang-tulang ikan
yang tak mampu dibawa kembali ke laut
tempat asal memberi makna indah
untuk menuntut satu kepastian
tentang erti kewujudan
di musim kering ini
kita tafsirkan singkatnya pengalaman
setelah menempuh cabaran laut
berperang
antara pahit getir dan liku-liku
apakah harus sia-sia begini
hidup lebih ditolak oleh keadaan
atau kitakah yang sering gagal
menyempurnakan diri
pada penentuan yang lain
pada keakraban yang lebih abadi

Fishbone
The body disintegrates
until what remains
are like the bones of fish
that can no longer return to the sea
the source where elegant truths
exact a singular conviction
on what existence meansin this dry season
we infer the brevity of experience
after weathering challenges at sea
warring
between asperity and adversity
why must it be this futile
this life impelled by circumstance
Or is it we who fail time and again
at perfecting ourselves
answering a vocation of a different strand
a fraternity that is without endby Johar Buang
