BIOGRAPHY

Wang Gungwu is a Singaporean historian and writer. He is currently a National University of Singapore (NUS) University Professor, Chairman of the Managing Board of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, and Emeritus Professor at the Australian National University. From 1986 to 1995, he was Vice-Chancellor of University of Hong Kong. As an undergraduate at the University of Malaya, he wrote Pulse (1950), perhaps one of Singapore’s first published poetry collections. His recent publications include: Home is Where We Are (with Margaret Wang) (2020); China Reconnects: Joining a Deep-rooted Past to a New World Order (2019); Home is not Here (2018); and Nanyang: Essays on Heritage (2018).
