Setiap hari
hitung mentari
terang timbul
gelap susul

Semua silau
buta kilau
jemaah teriak
kiblat selerak

Sedang kita sibuk
menunduk mendongak
anak-anak kita
diculik ombak

Hanyut
kerana lebih terlatih
bersujud
daripada berenang

Each day that comes
Charts the sun
Light breaks through
Darkness will ensue

Everything gleams
Blinded by glint
Believers clamoured
Qibla segregated

While we immersed in
nodding and tilting
our offsprings seized
by the swelling sea

Deviating
as they became inure
to prostrating
rather than swim

the drone of the end of an age

Each day—each one
number the sun
the light ensues
the dark pursues

all a glare
a blinding flare
the masses chatter
prayerwards we scatter

we bend our backs
uplifted necks
our children whom
the waves hijack

drifting— 
we’ve been disciplined
to sink to knees
rather than swim
